Pronoun – Reflexive Pronoun

In Reflexive Pronoun, action of the verb is reflected on the subject.

In a sentence when subject and object of the verb is same person or thing then for object we use Reflexive Pronoun.

Personal Pronouns are changed into Reflexive Pronouns by appending –self (for singular) or –selves (For plural).

For example:

My – Myself
Our – Ourselves
Your – Yourselves
Him – Himself
Her – Herself
It – Itself
Them – Themselves

Now see given examples:

Ravi ruined himself.

Who did the action? Off course Ravi did. Ravi ruined.
Now, who was ruined? Off course Ravi was ruined.
Means, Effect of Ravi’s action reflected to Ravi.

See another example:

They hurt themselves.
Who hurt? Answer is “They”.
Who were hurt? Answer is “They”.

So it is seen in above examples that subject and object of action is same.

Myself, Ourselves, Yourselves, Himself, Herself, Itself and Themselves are Reflexive Pronouns.
